16 Local Thrift Stores, Consignment Shops and Places to Donate

Spring is Officially Here and you are probably thinking of rolling up your sleeves, doing some spring cleaning and decluttering!


Here are some suggested destinations for your items. What’s great about this list is how many of the options serve two worthy purposes. 

  1. All donations you make will help tidy and streamline your home. Yay!
  2. The majority of the places below are cause oriented so your donations can actively help others. It’s a Win-Win!

The places listed below (alphabetically) are conveniently located in the West Valley.

  • Big Brothers Big Sisters of Central Arizona 
    • Offer mentoring services to at risk children and youth
    • They offer donation pick ups!
    • Gently used clothing and household items are accepted

  • Friends of Surprise Library (in same building as Surprise Regional Library) - Surprise
  • Salvation Army - Surprise
    • It’s not on their website right now but in the summer they collect backpacks and school supplies and as well as gifts for Christmas
    • They have a food pantry and can use donations of non perishable nutritious foods any time of the year

  • Lions Recycle for Sight Program (Surprise and Sun Cities Lions Clubs) - Surprise

  • Other Mothers - Surprise
    • A Buy/Trade/Sell business that focuses on all things Children (toys, clothing, shoes, books, playpens….) 
    • They also have adult clothing and shoes

  • The Prom Closet run by Peoria N. Rotary Club - Glendale
    • Donated promware (prom worthy clothing, shoes) for boys and girls are given for free to area teens so they can go to prom looking great
    • Prom Closet only happens on 2 weekends each spring and they are coming up soon! As in March 28/29 and April ⅚.  If you have formal wear to donate, consider acting swiftly!

  • Savers Thrift Store - Peoria / Arrowhead Crossing

  • Soles 4 Souls - Peoria / Arrowhead Crossing
    • Donate used shoes that are used to aid others worldwide

    • DSW Shoes VIP members can earn 50 points for their donations! (Show clerk donation first, then make donation to receive points)

  • St. Vincent de Paul - Surprise
    • They work to assist the most vulnerable in our community
    • Donate household goods and clothing to their thrift shop which helps fund their efforts
    • They will pick up!

  • Sun Cities 4 Paws Thrift Store - Youngtown
    • The profits from the thrift store are used to support their sister organization - a cat rescue organization that shelters and fosters
    • Clothing and household items can be donated

  • Valley View Community Food Bank - Sun City
    • Nutritious, non perishable food that has not expired as well as personal care items
    • While they are located in Sun City, they assist all ages from many local communities and cities
