A friend of mine introduced me to this unique coffee shop in Downtown Peoria where you get coffee and other drinks with a Hawaiian twist. Owners, Matthew and Charis, are from Hawaii and are proud to have this coffee shop (and, FYI a tattoo shop!) where they are able to bring the Aloha Spirit to all who enter.
If you were wondering about the name like I was, 808 is the area code for Hawaii. And the friendly, tropical island vibe carries through the entire customer experience with the decor and menu offerings. They have specialty coffees such as their signature drink 808 Latte that is 3 shots plus caramel, banana and macadamia nut. Their tropical teas (one even has edible glitter!) are delicious too.
There’s always something new to enjoy, and an excuse to be made to swing by and grab something because their menu changes with the days, seasons and holidays.
Simple food offerings are available and they have a small gift shop where you can purchase items made by local entrepreneurs. Parking is plentiful and access to 808 Social is convenient since it’s located where Grand/Interstate 60 and Peoria Ave. intersect. You may not have Hawaiian vacation plans, but while you wait for that trip to happen, 808 Social will give you a nice little taste of the Islands!
