Does your family have some Dr. Seuss books?
He was definitely a favorite with my family so we had many. My kids loved "There's a Wocket in My Pocket". After reading that we would carry on with the word play, making up silly rhymes as we went about our day. I loved "Mr. Brown Can Moo! Can you?" and "Hop on Pop" when I was little. As a boy, my father enjoyed "Bartholomew and the Oobleck" and made sure to read that to me when I was young.
Dr. Seuss' writing spanned and entertained multiple generations of kids starting way back with his first book in 1937. So impactful was he that now we have Dr. Seuss / Read Across America Day as a way to celebrate how he made reading enjoyable for kids.
Be sure to head to your children's bookshelf at home, the library, or the bookstore and read a Dr. Seuss book on Monday, March 3rd. Maybe enjoy some "Green Eggs and Ham" too!
If you need a place to start, here are 5 of his most popular books:
- The Cat in the Hat
- The Lorax
- Green Eggs and Ham
- How the Grinch Stole Christmas!
- Oh, the Places You'll Go!
Happy Reading!
