Legendary Latino rock band El Chicano will be headlining 2022 Somos Peoria, the Valley’s most celebrated Hispanic Heritage Month event, in Old Town Peoria on Saturday, Sept. 24 from 4-10:30 p.m.
Opening for El Chicano at Somos Peoria is Latin Breed and Mariachi Divas. Latin Breed is from the southside of San Antonio, Texas and, in the last 53 years, has become one of the most popular Tejano bands in the United States. The 10-piece band mixes Latin, big band, jazz and R&B sounds to create their distinctive Tejano sound. Mariachi Divas is an all-female band known for its eclectic array of music ranging from mariachi classics to jazz and pop. Their music is an elegant approach to the mariachi tradition and, therefore, they have been the official mariachi band of the Disneyland Resort since 2003.
In addition to the live music at Somos Peoria, there will be a lowrider car show, Ballet Folklorico performances, live mural painting from Carlos Rivas, Luche Libre, traditional food and beverages, and a free kid zone with rides, face painting, games, and more.
